As leader of the Labor Federation, Pulaski led efforts to restore daily overtime pay, raise the minimum wage and pass the nation\u2019s first Paid Family Leave law. Prior to his appointment, Acero managed his own firm since 2016 and represented employees in individual claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, failure to accommodate disabilities and more. Acero took leadership in the Cruz Reynoso Bar Association and offered assistance to Spanish-speaking workers. Because of their 24-hour operations and high-needs clientele, employers at residential care facilities often violate wage and hour laws to decrease operation costs. Revelo has stood up against wage theft against two prior employers, in both cases providing necessary information allowing for the assessment of back wages not only for herself, but for her former co-workers. In 2022, the Center for Workers\u2019 Rights worked with the Labor Commissioner\u2019s Bureau of Field Enforcement to issue a citation against her former employer for $1.3 million in back wages and penalties.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row admin_label=”Row – Cy Pres” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text admin_label=”H2 – Cy Pres” module_class=”column-head black align-center cap highlight” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n

California Code of Civil Procedure \u00a7 384(b) authorizes the trial court to direct residual funds to nonprofit organizations providing civil legal services to the indigent, or nonprofit organizations to support projects that will benefit the class or similarly situated persons.<\/p>\n

Because the Center for Workers\u2019 Rights combats harms similar to those litigated in class action lawsuits, CWR is a frequent recipient of cy pres funds. We have been an approved recipient of cy pres funds in central and northern California, in a wide range of industry actions.
