Davis Workers’ Rights Clinic Moves to Woodland

On October 6, 2015, the Center for Workers’ Rights and the Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center hosted the first Workers’ Right Clinic of our second-year of services in the Yolo County community.  Learning from our experiences  during our first year, the Workers’ Rights Clinic has been moved to the United Methodist Church in Woodland, California and remains staffed by UC Davis School of Law (King Hall) students.

Although all of our clinic counselors are first-year law students, they all come with incredible experience service low-income communities.  We have six Spanish-speaking volunteers, and can also  assist workers Hindi, Punjabi, Cantonese, and Farsi. Returning students, Stephanie Medina and Mollie Murphy, facilitate the clinic as student directors.

The issues of faced by the workers who contact our clinic include  discrimination, wage theft, and unemployment.  Each week, student counselors received training in these areas of law, and others.

The Workers’ Rights Clinic is held at the United Methodist Church  (620 North Street) in Woodland, CA.  We open our doors at 6:30pm.  Workers can call our office to schedule an appointment and we also welcome walk-ins.  Workers who do not have transportation to the clinic can also schedule a phone appointment.
