Know Your Rights Training at the Union Job Fair

On October 11, 2023,  the Center for Workers Rights joined numerous Unionized employers  for the South Sacramento Union Job Fair hosted by the Sacramento Central Labor Council. The event provided opportunities for community members to receive information about available jobs in the area with unions, talk to potential employers, and even do in the moment interviews.

CWR’s outreach team supported job seekers by making sure they knew about their workplace rights. Throughout the event, CWR provided materials and conducted two presentations.

During the presentations, our program Administrator, Laura spoke on a variety of topics including the protections that are afforded Unionized workers and public employees.  Laura also discussed California’s “at will” employment presumption and how having a contract provides increased job protections.

We were honored to be able to spend the day with so many great organizations and workers alike, ensuring they had the most up-to-date and accurate information about their rights in the workplace. Education and outreach is the cornerstone of the work the Center does every week. If you have questions regarding your rights in the workplace, or would like to schedule CWR to conduct a Know Your Rights presentation, please contact us at 916-905-5857 or hotline@rightscenter.org
