Sacramento Wage Theft Town Hall

On September 1, 2015, Center for Workers’ Rights Executive Director and David Huerta, President of SEIU-USWW, mc’ed the Sacramento Fair Pay Check Coalition’s wage theft town hall on the steps of the California Capitol. This town hall was the last of a series of events held in San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County discussing the issues with wage theft and advocating for the passage of SB 588.l

State Controller Betty Yee and State Senator Richard Pan joined community activists and victims of wage theft to discuss the prevalence of wage theft in low-wage worker communities.

Every year 1.2 billion dollars are stolen from California workers through minimum wage violations. 83% of workers who win judgments for wage theft never get a dime! Have you or someone in your community been a victim? Learn about how to stop wage theft, how Senate Bill 588 will help workers recover stolen wages, and the need for community based enforcement in Oakland.
