On June 2nd, the Center for Workers’ Rights and the Legal Aid Society – Employment Law Center added Sacramento as a new Workers’ Rights Clinic site, allowing greater numbers of low-wage workers in California to get free help with urgent workplace problems. The Sacramento site is staffed by law student counselors from McGeorge Law School who will be supervised by attorneys from the Center, LAS-ELC and by experienced volunteer attorneys from the plaintiffs’ employment bar.
The Sacramento will assist workers from Sacramento and the surrounding areas with a wide range of workplace problems, including unpaid wages and overtime, health and safety violations and discrimination. LAS-ELC and the Center for Workers’ Right teach student volunteers California employment law, in addition to providing skills training on key advocacy tactics.
The Sacramento Workers’ Rights Clinic will initially operate every other week through the summer at the McGeorge Law School campus in the Muddox Building, 3455 35th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95817. Workers seeking legal assistance should contact the Center at 916-905-5857 for an appointment.
